Fairy cake

A fairy cake or cupcake is a small cake designed to serve one person, usually made in a small paper cup container. As with larger cakes, frosting and other cake decoration, such as sprinkles, are often applied.

Cupcakes are often served during a celebration, such as children's classroom birthday parties. They are a more convenient alternative to cake because they don't require plate, utensils or dividing into pieces because they are smaller. Cupcakes were first invented in the early 1800s.

A simple cupcake uses the same ingredients as most other standard cakes - incorporating butter, sugar, egg and flour.

The name "cup" cakes or "measure" cakes is believed to have developed because of the use of the practice of measuring the ingredients using a standard-sized cup instead of the previous practice of weighing the ingredients. The fact that these little cakes were baked in cup-shaped muffin baking containers gave double-meaning to the term "cup cake", and was probably the main factor for "cupcake" becoming the most common term.

It is also possible that cupcakes came into being simply as smaller versions of the victoria sponge cake, as the mixture required is exactly the same. The mixture is also the same as the quarter cake recipe, so called because it is made up of four ingredients in equal ratios; butter, self-raising flour, eggs and castor sugar.

FAIRY CAKE RECIPES

INGREDIENTS:

125g fresh fruit, such as strawberries, peaches, apples, pears or bananas
125g soft margarine
125g caster sugar
125g self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 large eggs
1 tsp natural vanilla extract or cinnamon or ground mixed spice

for the icing:
250g icing sugar
3 tbsp fruit juice or water
edible food colouring
sweets or tubes of writing icing, to decorate
assorted sweets

PREPARATION:

1. Ask an adult to preheat the oven to 190C/375F/gas mark 5 and chop the fruit into small pieces with a knife on the chopping board. Wash your hands, then put the paper cases in the bun trays.

2. Put the margarine and sugar in a large bowl. Sift in the flour and baking powder. Break in the eggs and add the vanilla extract, cinnamon or ground mixed spice.

3. Beat with a wooden spoon until evenly mixed ? the mixture should fall easily off the spoon when lightly tapped against the side of the bowl.

4. Stir the fruit into the cake mixture, and spoon into the cake cases, using a teaspoon. Ask an adult to cook them towards the centre of the oven for 18-20 minutes until risen, golden and springy to the touch.

5. Ask an adult to remove trays from the oven. Cool slightly, then lift out with a palette knife. Transfer to a cooling rack until cold.

6. To decorate, sift the icing sugar into a bowl and add the fruit juice or water a little at a time. Mix to a thick icing. Add food colouring, or leave half of the icing white and colour the remaining half.

7. Spoon a little icing on to each cake and spread with a knife. Leave to set. Decorate by sticking on sweets or drawing funny faces with writing icing.

Appendix

Yesterday, my sister had her appendix out. She said the operation was so painful, she had a grumbling appendix so the doctor took her appendix out. She is 14 years old (2 years younger than me). She studies in a boarding school known as Sekolah Tun Fatimah in Johore Bharu.

this song is for my sister+get well soon (one of her favourite song)

my sweet little sis....

Vermiform appendix

In human anatomy, the vermiform appendix (or appendix, pl. appendices) is a blind ended tube connected to the cecum, from which it develops embryo logically. The term "vermiform" comes from Latin and means "wormlike in appearance". The cecum is the first pouch-like structure of the colon. The appendix is near the junction of the small intestines and large intestines.

The appendix averages 100 mm in length, but can range from 20 to 200 mm. The diameter of the appendix is usually less than 7 to 8 mm. The longest appendix ever removed was that of a Pakistani man on June 11, 2003, at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad, measuring 235 mm (9.2 in) in length. Whether the appendix has a function, it is routinely removed without any ill effects or side effects.

Some experts believe that the appendix was used for digesting leaves as primates. Over time, we have eaten less vegetable and have evolved, over millions of years, for this organ to be smaller to make room for our stomach.

There have been cases of people who have been found, usually on laparoscopy or laparotomy, to have a congenital absence of their appendix. There have been no reports of impaired immune or gastrointestinal function in these people.

Diseases

The most common diseases of the appendix (in humans) are appendicitis and carcinoid tumors. Appendix cancer accounts for about 1 in 200 of all gastrointestinal malignancies. Adenomas also (rarely) present.

Appendicitis (or epityphlitis) is a condition characterized by inflammation of the appendix. Virtually all cases of Appendicitis require removal of the inflamed appendix, either by laparotomy or laparoscopy. Untreated, the appendix will rupture leading to peritonitis then shock and if continued untreated death. Pain often begins in the center of the abdomen where the lining of the stomach is irritated then moves lower right as the condition develops, it is important to note that this makes diagnoses difficult in the early stages that only an MRI can detect. Appendicitis presents as pain in the right lower quadrant with rebound tenderness. In particular, it presents at McBurney's Point, 1/3 of the way along a line drawn from the Anterior Superior Iliac Spine to the Umbilicus. Rebound tenderness is when it does not hurt to press on the point but it hurts greatly when the pressure is released, or when the skin rebounds. Typically, point (skin) pain is not present until the parietal peritoneum is inflamed as well. Fever and immune system response are also characteristic of appendicitis. It is important to see a physician if stomach pain is present.

The surgical removal of the vermiform appendix is called an appendicectomy (or appendectomy). This procedure is normally performed as an emergency procedure, when the patient is suffering from acute appendicitis. In the absence of surgical facilities, intravenous antibiotics are used to delay or avoid the onset of sepsis; it is now recognized that many cases will resolve when treated non-operatively. In some cases the appendicitis resolves completely; more often, an inflammatory mass forms around the appendix. This is a relative contraindication to surgery.

TAK ADA LOGIKA

Daniel Radcliffe interview

Agnes Monica-tanpa kekasihku

Tanpa kekasihku

begitu gelap
Hujan tak juga reda
Ku harus menyaksikan cintaku
Terenggut tak terselamatkan

Ingin ku ulang hari
Ingin ku perbaiki
Kau sangat ku butuhkan
Beraninya kau pergi dan tak kembali

(Korus)
Dimana letak surga itu
Biar ku gantikan tempat mu dengan ku
Adakah tangga surga itu
Biar ku temukan untuk bersamamu

Ku biarkan senyum ku menari di udara
Biar semua tahu
Kematian tak mengakhiri
Cinta…

(Ulang korus 2x)

Apalah artinya hidup tanpa kekasihku
Percuma ku ada disini

OBESITY & BODY MASS INDEX

Obesity

Obesity is the condition of being much too heavy for ones height. In other words, it means to be highly overweight. People are called

To know if a person is overweight, the body mass index (BMI) is calculated, by dividing the weight (in kilograms) by the height of the person in meters, squared (multiplied by it self). (This is only meaningful for adults who are fully grown, and should not be used for children.)

To estimate BMI, locate the point on the chart where height and weight intersect. Read the number on the dashed line closest to this point. For example, if you weigh 69 kg and are 173 cm tall, you have a BMI of approximately 23, which is in Normal Weight.

You can also calculate your BMI using this formula:

BMI = weight(kg)/height(m)2

The current definitions commonly in use establish the following values, agreed in 1997 and published in 2000:

  • A BMI less than 18.5 is underweight
  • A BMI of 18.5–24.9 is normal weight
  • A BMI of 25.0–29.9 is overweight
  • A BMI of 30.0–39.9 is obese
  • A BMI of 40.0 or higher is severely (or morbidly) obese

A BMI of 35.0 or higher in the presence of at least one other significant comorbidity is also classified by some bodies as morbid obesity

New Oven

Mother bought a new oven. She got it from her vendor friend from Parit Buntar. Her name escaped me. Mother addressed her Mak Su eventhough she was younger than her; and she in turn addressed mother Kakbah.

The oven is so unique. One can alternately knead and bake bread in it. The price is MR 800.00, Quite expensive for people like us. Father said that amount of money can supply us three years of daily bread from the local cornershop. However I think it is worth the money because it is very useful. We can have bread and other pastries for breakfast and lunch and even tea. It will lower our schooling budget.

Mother bought the oven on 21 July, the same day I bought my new Harry Potter series.
Her friend Mak Su demonstrated her and my entire neighborhood on how to use it. She baked some bread for sample. They cooked pastries like, mini pizza, white bread and sweet bun.

That day I couldn’t come to the Surau where they had their cooking class while learning to use the oven because my friend Fasihah and I went to Ipoh to collect my Harry Potter series that I had ordered since February.

When I got back, I asked my mother about the class and the bread she had promised to give me. Unfortunately she told me that butt-head brother of mine had eaten it. However she promised to bake me some new ones and to teach me how to use the versatile machine.

MY HERO

Hero, like all of us know, hero is a man that is very powerful, strong and charming. Hero will face danger to save their family and friends. Everybody likes hero and everybody has hero for their own. Including me, my hero is harry potter. Harry potter is series from seven fantasy novel by author J.K Rowling.

The story begin with unrestrained celebration of a normally secretive wizarding world which for many years had been terrorised by Lord Voldemort an evil warlock. That night he had discovered the refuge of hidden potter family and kill them as part of his plan to take over the wizarding world., Lily and James potter had been killed but when he attempt to kill Harry, something strange happened the killing curse Avada Kedavra had rebounded upon him, and the bad warlock destroy becoming nothing than a weak spirit neither alive or dead (no one knows). His mysterious defeat of Voldemort make him being dubbed "The Boy Who Lived" by the wizarding community. After the death of his parents he had to live with his, non-magical relatives, the Dursleys, who, in an attempt to rid him of his magical powers and hide his magical heritage and his wicked aunt petunia give him severe punishments after any strange occurrences. However, on his eleventh birthday he had received a letter from from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which are delivered by owls. That is his first contact with the magical world.

The letters are taken from him by his Uncle before he has a chance to read them but he has been informed Hagrid, the gamekeeper of Hogwarts, that he is in fact a wizard and has been invited to attend the school.
In school he had meet his new best friends Hermione Granger and Ronald Wesley.
Also a very wicked enemy, Draco Malfoy.

In Hogwarts, he had learns to use magic and brew potions. Harry also learns to overcome many magical, social, and emotional obstacles as he struggles through his adolescence.

Every year in school he had to face many challenging experience and he also had meet face to face with Lord Voldemort again. But he is a very strong boy and he will get through of it with his bestfriends besides him.

For me this story is so good and i learned a lot from this story. I learned the sadness of being orphan and we must love our family and everything that we have in life; we also must show our love to them before it is too late. Like Harry potter, he had no chance to meet his parents but even though they are not with him their love will always protect him.
